Knew they wouldn't use any of the original poster artwork on The Hitcher. Shame.

I love The Hitcher. What I really don't love is Second Sight pulling their usual stunt of only releasing the bells and whistles with a 4K release I have no use or interest in. And at ?70!!!! Up their arse they can put that. I'll pick the standard edition up. In a sale.
I would have probably stumped up ?30 for a standard blu limited edition of this one too.

Edit: just seen its ?50 direct. Still too much. Ridiculous.

Even the standard edition is 23 quid.

Second Sight take the piss with their prices. They really do.

Wouldn't be as bad maybe if their cover artworks and collectible art cards weren't ****ing dreadful.

A quote from Blair Witch Project producer Michael Monello in the Blair Witch Project Facebook group, prompted by the Imprint release being announced.

Quote:
"DO NOT BUY THIS unless you want all the stuff around Book of Shadows. It hasn't been announced yet, but there is a NEW version of the original film coming out in October with exclusive new content. and for the first time ever the film will look the way it was intended to from the beginning.
Back in 1999, Artisan never consulted us on the transfer and they... I believe the technical term is "****ed it all up" and neither they or Lions Gate ever fixed it. Not even for the Blu-Ray release.
The version coming will stand as the only version that represents the filmmakers complete vision for the film."

"This is the company you want to keep an eye on for the announcement of that release, which is currently set for October: https://secondsightfilms.co.uk"

It itrigues me as to what he actually means. How it's supposed to look?

It was filmed by a bunch of students with hand held cameras out in the woods. Exactly how is it supposed to look?

It's weird to read his criticism because I'm not sure how the colour balance or general aesthetic could be so wrong.

As you say, The Blair Witch Project was filmed by amateurs on relatively low quality, hand-held cameras - it's not The Matrix or Blade Runner 2049.
