This is probably obvious, but is it the settings on your TV rather than your Blu player that are the problem?

This has been posted on Instagram by DawnoftheDiscs regarding The Blair Witch Project and Second Sights release.

"Producer Michael Monello has stated that Second Sight will be releasing an edition of "The Blair Witch Project" (1999) that "represents the filmmakers complete vision for the film'" and that it is currently slated for an October release and also that:
'For 25 years, Artisan/Lions Gate have been content to put out a version of this film that is NOT how the filmmakers intended it to look, with broken motion and film grain over video. Now that we have an actual filmmaker and producer approved version coming out, I think l've earned the right to dump on a release of the transfer that Artisan did without consulting us.
This release does not represent how we, the producers and filmmakers, want the film to be seen, full-stop.
If they want to cash grab dump it in the market I can't stop them, but I'm not going to shut up about something I worked so hard on being released with a shoddy transfer and the same old extras."

This guys taken the right hump about Imprint releasing Blair Witch hasn't he.

They could have released their version anytime they wanted to so why wait 25 bloody years to do it.

Those 'same old extras' are excellent especially the Blair Witch documentary. It's a perfect compliment to watching the film.

I am intrigued how it's "intended" to look though.

There's no need to. Blu-ray doesn't improve it.

Unless the film is suddenly going to get an HD makeover, like this image below, that won't be true to how it was made by three students on hand held cameras in 1999.

Exactly

The whole point of the film is that it is lo-fi home camcorder thing - it's not (and it shouldn't be) a grade 'A' high-tech film

While the picture quality doesn't need to be HD, I'd like to see a decent audio track. I'd love a full surround track but then that doesn't necessarily fit with the found footage aspect.
I don't want to bog the thread down with endless copy and pasted stuff as no one wants that but it's interesting some of the articles turning up online. I've just been reading that this will actually be a previously unseen "cut" of the film with new footage and previously added "effects" removed.
