Well, seeing as there are so few episodes left and against my better judgement, I decided to watch last night’s episode, which was another incoherent mess. It’s as if they think if they throw enough bits of whatever on the screen then somebody will like one of them. And, of course, we then had to stop for this week’s lecture - this time on mental health issues.
Anyone remember Vincent And The Doctor? A beautifully written and scripted episode dealing with similar issues, but done in such a way that it wasn’t sledgehammered into your face. And a thoroughly entertaining story to boot.
Another couple of questions - is the guy who plays Ryan actually an actor?
And does anybody remember a programme called Doctor Who?

I'm the same, only watching the last three due to it being Mary Shelley and Cybermen.

This was an interesting story at first. I liked the idea of an Eternal trapped in a sphere between two colliding planets as a prison, but to solve it all with a wave of the Sonic was utter toss.

I'm sick of all the lecturing each week. You're right, Vincent and the Doctor was a masterpiece, a brilliant story which actually brings a tear to my eye, whereas the only tears with Chibaker Who is for how bad it's all got.

Two good episodes and one decent one out of seven so far.

as someone who suffers from depression I'm in so agreement with you guys! the last 10 minutes were dedicated to mental health, the villains were despatched before that! what is this show really about?

although I'm still not convinced it's all the writers fault. I do think higher ups r forcing the decisions in the direction doctor who goes. remember when they made a big deal about a previous companion being gay even though she wasn't the first Dr who character to have same gender relationships with people? remember how many episodes they brought up her sexuality?

At this point the BBC should just sell the rights to doctor who too someone else, at this point no matter who it is they can't do a worse job than the BBC themselves

Praxeus had a better seven day figure than other episodes. It was potentially going to come in under 5m but ended up at 5.22m.

It's still piss poor but could have been worse.

Here's all the episodes in the 5m range throughout the Who revival.

(Yes i am a sad twat for doing this, but it's something ongoing i've been doing since Rose in 2005.)

5.98m - Smile
5.79m - The Pyramid At The End Of The World
5.76m - The Zygon Invasion
5.73m - Knock, Knock
5.71m - The Witch's Familiar
5.63m - Under the Lake
5.61m - Sleep No More
5.61m - Thin Ice
5.57m - Fugitive of the Judoon
5.53m - Extremis
5.38m - Orphan 55
5.29m - The Doctor Falls
5.27m - Oxygen
5.22m - Praxeus
5.20m - Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror
5.02m - Empress of Mars
5.00m - World Enough and Time

4.82m - The Lie Of The Land
4.73m - The Eaters of Light

For a long time (Until Capaldi came along) The Satan Pit was by far the worst episode for viewing figures at 6.08m. Now that would be seen as a triumph for the current series.

If there are any stats fans out there who would like me to post the full list of every episode.

Just ask.
