THE DAEMONS
Doctor who does QUATERMASS AND THE PIT and ends up with something akin to THE WICKER MAN in this truly extraordinary adventure from 1971.
I always liked this one, but watching it again after many years on the new Blu Ray set, it’s really leapt into one of my all time favourite Pertwee stories.
The location filming is spot on, the sets ( and lighting ) are excellent and the whole cast are absolutely at the top of their game. The idea of having The Master as an evil vicar is simply sublime.
There really is so much going on in the story, but it all gels and flows together brilliantly.
The pq on the Blu Ray is fantastic - it has never looked as good as this before ( the difference between this version and the clips in the making of feature are astonishing ).
An absolute classic.

I was going to buy the Friday 13th set but decided to go for the Doctor Who blu-rays instead now and i can get almost three of those for the price of the US Shout Factory set (that's defective on three discs). I was so impressed by the way Ghost Light looked on blu (I bought it last January when it came out as an investment even though i couldn't pay it) and now your thoughts on The Daemons only reinforces my decision on Doctor Who on blu-ray. Anyway long story short i've ordered the standard editions of seasons 12 and 19.

I won't be buying the animated stories on blu-ray. There's surely only so much you can do with line drawings.
Mojo, Graeme73 and iank like this.
