Puzzled. Why is he called the tenth Master? I'd never heard that before.

Seeing as tv stories are the only ones genuinely recognised by the producers (Although some sly winks and nods are given to other sources occasionally) why tenth.

I only recall Delgado, Pratt / Beevers, Ainley, Roberts, Jacobi, Simm, Gomez and Dhawan as playing different incarnations of the character on tv. That's eight.

Gordon Tipple who played the character in long shot and very obscured in about a second of the tv movie i thought was supposed to be the Ainley Master.

Although the *character* is the same from the first episode of 'Terror Of The Autons' to 'The Power Of The Doctor', I have been counting the actor who played him as a different incarnation

Therefore, as you stated, ten different people have played the role:

1: Roger Delgado
2: Peter Pratt
3: Geoffrey Beevers
4: Anthony Ainley
5: Gordon Tipple (credited as 'the Old Master')
6: Eric Roberts
7: Derek Jacobi
8: John Simm
9: Michelle Gomez
10: Sacha Dhawan

Pratt and Beevers were playing the same version or regeneration of the Master as were Ainley and Tipple. So he may be the tenth actor but he isn't the tenth Master.

Anyway it's your post so okay.
