The Japanese cover of their novel of David Whitaker's Doctor Who and the Daleks

This is part of a set of five that were published in 1980 by Hayakawa Bunko.

This particular one is Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks, which here is called Jikuu Daikettou! which roughly translates to 'Big Bloody Space-Time Battle!'.

The other four are:

Darek Zoku no gyakushuu! (Day of the Daleks translating to The Dalek Race's Counterattack!)

オートン軍団の襲来! (The Auton Invasion, translated to Auton Corps of Attack!)

戦慄! 地底 モンスター (The Cave Monsters translated to Horror! Underground Monster!)

and

Osoru Beki Saishyuu Heiki! (The Doomsday Weapon translating to Be Fearful of the Ultimate Weapon!)

Thanks to Mobius6432 who provided this info elsewhere.

Really think she has been underestimated/unnoticed by new who fans.

Speaking to them seem to think sarah jane was the first companion that wasn't a screamer and stood up to the doctor and strong woman etc etc.

They don't seem to realise that Liz shaw did all this while wearing a short skirt too! For those that wanted the doctor to have an equal, she was pretty much the first!
She just didn't have the fanbase that sarah jane had. Shame she was in only one season.

Not only that, but the only season she was in was one of, if not the best in the series history

For me it would have been better if they'd shaved off four episodes - one each from Silurians and Inferno and two from Ambassadors and got a fifth story, a four parter to end the season.

Perhaps budgetary restrictions didn't allow at the time.

That?s a fair point. Though watching all the extra features, it seems it was budgetary restrictions that resulted in the longer stories ( fewer sets, actors etc ).
I get why they didn?t continue with the 7 parters, but it does help to make this season unique. Plus I love every story!
