I caught this live show via a stream yesterday and was first a bit annoyed by all the guests and the hostess (except Doc #5 and the old chap, they were cool ) and I was very jumpy and yes, worried, i was so in fear they kill the show by putting a woman in the role, which MUST NOT be - EVER!

I mam fine with the decision, PC came over very sympathetically and clips I have seen with him look very promising and I seem to recall his role in Torchwood was a goodie. Is that the first time that a Doctor had had a role in the series before? PC was in that Pompeii episode in one Series with David Tennant...

The Interview with Matt somehow touched my heart, yeah, I am a fanboy and love it!

Nah, it's the second time. Colin Baker played a Timelord in the Fifth Doctor story Arc of Infinity.

In a different medium, David Tennant participated in several Doctor Who audio dramas for Big Finish Productions before being cast as the Tenth Doctor.

Um...he actually played Commander Maxil, a member of the Gallifreyan Chancellery Guard and not a Timelord

Excellent choice as the new Doc ( and I'm particularly glad they went for someone older this time ). Looking forward to Peter's take on the Doc!

By the way, I've just watched the documentary on the new The Green Death dvd and there is a clip of the TARDIS landing in the water from Fury From The Deep. Apart from the Australian censor's clips, I wasn't aware of any surviving clips from this serial. Anyone know where this has come from?

Capaldi's a top choice, faith in Moffat and the new series has been restored!

It's from episode 10 of The War Games.

Fury From the Deep

None of the six episodes of this serial is known to exist in full (see Doctor Who missing episodes). The master videotapes for the story were the final 1960s Doctor Who episodes to be junked; they were authorised for wiping in late 1974. This is the latest chronological Doctor Who story of which all episodes are missing from the archives.[6] A few seconds of the start of episode 1 (the TARDIS descending vertically to land on the sea) survives due to it being used a year later in episode 10 of The War Games, as do the scene where Oak and Quill launch their toxic gas attack, the death of Van Lutyens and the Doctor and Jamie approaching the foam in episode 4, which survive because they were cut from Australian broadcasts by the censors, and never returned to the BBC.
