Fictional time travellers don’t have vaginas, insist morons "As Jodie Whittaker was confirmed as the new Doctor, lots of angry idiots insisted that the genitals of the Doctor play an essential role in the universe in which he resides."

I'm sure I've said it before, but not in this thread, but I have never seen a whole episode of Doctor Who. However, I still have an opinion about TV in general; it's good to see the production companies moving with the times and embracing the availability of good actors, regardless of gender, because of what they can offer the directors, screenwriters and, most importantly, the viewers.

Putting the agenda of the new Doctor to one side, Jodie Whittaker is an award-winning stage actor with a good pedigree on the big and small screen. I thought she was brilliant in Venus opposite Peter O'Toole, and really impressed in Good Vibrations, and Perrier's Bounty (I haven't seen any of the TV shows in which she has appeared), so it isn't as if she hasn't earned the prestigious role on merit.

She'll have signed up for three years no doubt so it's a big commitment and a grueling schedule. I actually can't wait to see her first episode. |

I am not happy with this move, it is just reeking too much of that PC gender equality dung that feminists put upon us and made things rather harder for women than better - but I will still try if it works, but with high doubts...

I don't see that. Although, as I said, I don't watch the show, a female Time Lord has been on the cards for a long time. Numerous names have been mentioned, particularly Tilda Swinton, and Jodie Whittaker arguably has more of an acting pedigree than Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison or Sylvester McCoy when they were given the gig.
