What about the Yeti, Jagaroth, Fendahl, Sea Devils etc. All better than the Vashta Nerada. Personally i rate the Autons, Axons, Wirrn, Sutekh and his Mummies, Morbius, Omega, Krynoids, Voc Robots, Mr Sin, Marsh Creatures, Tereleptils, Mara, Tractators, Fenric Vampires, Krilitanes, Ood and Clockwork Robots as all being miles better than the Vashta Nerada, and thats just off the top of my head. The Master isn't exactly a monster either. The poll was from the Radio Times readers. - Dimwits, obviously. |

I'd love to see a proper return of the Autons. The Spearhead From Space Autons were a hundred times better ( and more frightening ) than RTD's crap versions in 'Rose'. |

It's because they are rubbish. Men in silver suits, wearing cricket gloves. (I'm not a fan of the Cybermen!) Anyway, you have answered your own question: Quote:
AND they were even defeated by some non-actor companion who used his gold Badge for Mathematical Excellence to help destroy them [Seriously, I think that the worst thing that ever happened to the Cybermen was making them allergic to gold. You give a monster a weakness, and they lose all power]

What a terrible poll, Seeds Of Death was the first Who dvd i bought, as i'd had the novelisation way back, so im glad they haven't been brought back (look what they did to the Silurians.....). Personally, the giant rat from Talons is a better monster than the VN

But it seems wtiters don't know what to do with them. The Tenth Planet seems pretty good, but like most others i've never seen it. The Moonbase is just a remake of the Tenth Planet. The Tomb of the Cybermen is ok, but imo overrated. The Invasion is excellent, but the Cybermen are only in half the story. The Wheel in Space is mind numbingly dull. Revenge of the Cybermen is perhaps the worst ever Cybermen story until Closing Time that is. I do really like Earthshock and always have done. An excellent action packed story. I thought Attack of the Cybermen was great when i first saw it. Unfortunately in the cold light of day it isn't really that good, but it does have some brilliant touches. Ditto Silver Nemesis. I love the entrance of the Cybermen and the gunfight with the Nazi's, it goes downhill from there though. Rise of the Cybermen / The Age of Steel. I really enjoyed this, but it does have faults... The same goes for Army of Ghosts / Doomsday which was completely ruined by the last ten minutes. The Next Doctor. I love this, i know most people hate it, but i love it. Brilliant Christmas day entertainment. The Pandorica Opens, whilst not really a Cyberman story has an excellent cameo which gives them a lot of horrific menace. Closing Time was a disaster, a very poorly written way to beat the Cybermen. I prefer RTD's "press the red button" resolutions than the ideas in Moffat's leadership. |

Cybermen are one of the most visually striking and interesting villians. I hated the revamp of the cybermen but loved the original series. Here are villians that actually cause the death of an assistant. I honestly pretty much enjoyed all cybermen stories I've seen so far. Just watched the featurette on Survival talking about where Doctor Who was going and they had some amazing plans for the series. Andrew Cartmel really had a great grasp on the character and the series. The biggest misconception is that the Doctor was God but in actuality it was just that he was part of a group that the Timelords considered almost as a deity but it was just that him and two others had helped in the growth of the Time Lords though it would never actually be said just hinted at.

Heard about this last night I cannot wait to see them back. When a lot of people got excited about the Daleks I get more excited about Ice Warriors, Sontarans, and Silurans.
