Default Talking Pictures TV

I couldn't see any other posts about this new TV channel, it has a connection with Renown Pictures which generally put out old British films, anyway, the new channel has a pretty decent line-up, if you like obscure/old/forgotten, etc.

Schedule - Talking Pictures TV

More about them, taken from their website:

About Talking Pictures TV
A brand new independent archive film and television channel, launching on the Sky digital satellite platform on Tuesday 26th May 2015.

Watch on the Sky digital satellite platform, channel number 343, as a free to air channel.

Do you remember the thrill and excitement of Saturday Morning Pictures? Where heroes and villains and clowns and crooners, invariably in glorious black & white, would entertain you for hours. Now those glorious days return, and it’s not just for Saturday mornings. It’s twenty four hours a day. Every day!

So, grab your bag of popcorn and your drink on a stick, take your seat in the one-and-nines, and re-live some of the rarest gems from British film history; plundering the deepest and darkest vaults of Pinewood, Twickenham and Shepperton Studios to present a wide variety of nostalgic treats.

Blood of the Vampire and Gorgo are two genre films worth catching.

I've never seen Gorgo, I'll be setting it to record once the channel launches tomorrow!

Just thought I've noticed on their schedule some of the films featured on the Mill Creek box sets, the Crown International Films i.e. Pom Pom Girls, Hunk, Cave Girl and they're having a sci-fi extravaganza on the 16th August - including The Trollenberg Terror which is great.

I really do like some rubbish.

I keep meaning to mention this but for those that have always been curious about the Mill Creek box sets (Drive-in collection, Gorehouse Greats, Savage Streets, etc.) but think £5 for 20 films is too expensive/can't do region 1 - Talking Pictures has been showing a lot of them recently so it's worth a scan of the channel if you fancy dipping your toes. I know they are cheap as chips box sets with some questionable material but there is some great stuff on them. Blood Mania was on a while back which is worth watching for the soundtrack alone. Plus I'm completely obsessed with Single Room Furnished that it's made it to my top films ever list - I'm not ready to revisit it to find out that I was out of my mind when I watched it but I swear Jayne Mansfield was amazing in it.

TPT is now available on more platforms now too - Freeview Channel 81, Youview channel 81 or on Sky channel number 343.

Day of the Triffids (1962) is on tonight followed by Don't Look in the Basement (1973).

That maybe so, but the rarity of some films sort of balances that out imo. I'm looking forward to my next stint next week.
