I just discovered this show late last year with the DVD sets. Needless to say I'd bought the colour set before I'd even finished the black and white one. Fantastic show, loved it to bits. Just shocked it took me so long to "discover" it!

This seems to have slipped by and I've only just heard the news - Anthony Valentine died earlier this month at the age of 76. Valentine has a massive career in British television and film stretching back five decades including such shows as Raffles and Colditz. I first encountered him as the forbidding devil-worshipping Baron de Belleme in several memorable episodes of Robin of Sherwood in the 80s, though perhaps his greatest role was, of course, as the charming yet sharp-tongued and utterly ruthless Toby Meres in Callan, which I only saw the first time last year and utterly fell in love with.
Very sad to hear this.

Nice People Die At Home

Where Dave is "requested" to go after his bosses "opposite" number. Lots of shadiness here, I've never seen a series more suited to its medium tbh. Living in the shadows is a lonely (but not Lonely ) life, and who can blame DC for being "over cautious"??



Death Of A Hunter

Septuple cross anyone? As a closer, this is something else (still only normal length too!), as "the other side" get their hooks into our boy. Quite nasty (in context) in places really. Meres rattles around bullying Lonely. It all ends ... with a bang (cough).

I cannot recommend these 12 episodes highly enough.
