Well I felt my sympathy for him with his wife etc than holden who was just some crazy old academic with no real back story who I didnt connect with unlike Hurt. Don't get me wrong his was probably a better performance, but hurt was the more well rounded character

Much like Lovecraft actually, James' characters often seem to be academics without any real depth or back story. Michael Hordern's performance fits the story very well.

Finished 16 of 22 episodes of the first season of The Ghost Whisperer. Pleasantly surprised by it, tbh. A bit spooky, a bit soapy, and a bit soppy, but in acceptable proportions - for me anyway.

Finished season three of Banshee, one of the most underrated shows of modern times. Ridiculously entertaining, only eight episodes to go.

Finished Hap & Leonard last night. At only six 40 minute episodes it's ideal for a binge watch. Brilliant addictive stuff with excellent quirky characters a cracking script and top notch performances from James Purefoy and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Continuing the Ghost Stories for Christmas, watched disc 2. While Stalls of Barchester started off well I found it lost a bit of momentum in the 2nd half. However A Warning to the Curious had me gripped from beginning to end and I found it genuinely disturbing. This review on Letterboxd was so apt I actually laughed out loud when I read it.

"Basically just like It Follows, but set in deepest rural England, with men wearing knickerbockers, and absolutely no sex."

I think it eclipses Whistle... as my favourite so far.
