That's John Leeson in the Bungle costume, who would later go on to provide the voice of K-9 in 'Doctor Who'!

Well, I watched that Callan one off then. Aside from the hilariously inappropriate music, pacing ( a 3 parter would have given the story time to breathe imho) and some casting decisions it was rather fun tbh. We meet our Dave at the beck and call of some drunken floozie, seemingly happy with his cuckish lot. But a phonecall changes all ... Structured slightly like the film, different locations aside from Lonely's flat and the office etc, everybody has plans nowadays it seems. Not quite a reimagining ...neither is it the excreta that was that dang Professionals reboot. Will revisit, and another binge seems likely what what with the forecast ahem.

Finished Secret Army. Season 3 was generally the best of the lot, though I'm somewhat unsure what I think of the ending and the fates of certain characters. Though of course the story is not done for one of them, with the spin-off Kessler still to come...

Wicked Science: End Game. Now Jack has the secret to becoming a genius there's just two more things he wants to do - engage the process... and then remove Toby and Elizabeth. The season (and series) finale is a very strong episode. Jack comes across as outright evil, utterly cold-blooded and gloating as he destroys Elizabeth's trust in him, but it's good to see that while initially obviously devastated, Elizabeth's anger kicks back in (albeit in a healthy and positive manner) with a "No one treats me like that!" The King Kong homage with the giant koala is very fun - even if the CGI is terrible lol - and it's a great Toby and Elizabeth episode, with her finally getting to plant one on him. While he doesn't entirely reciprocate, he doesn't shove her away either, and even returns one on the cheek. Aww. It's perhaps telling that Nikki doesn't even get a look-in in this episode, because screw her. It's a shame we didn't get a third season, but I loved season 2, and just plain like it a lot more than 1, and this is a much more satisfying series finale too, if perhaps not as conclusive as you might hope. The episodes just seem generally stronger, and Elizabeth has a great character journey and is just a lot more likeable in general. Loved revisiting this for the first time in 15 years, rather sad there's no more now. |

Chillers. 1995. A anthology of tales involving fantasy, supernatural, ancient ritual cults. Episode 1.: Prophecy. Francesca and her friends hold a seance in the basement of her family's cafe, when the word Prophecy has the group skeptical. 5 years later the group die in tragic ways and Sophie tries to find the connection between the seance and her new partner Oliver Halkin and his son Edward. Stars: Nigel Havers, Sophie Ward, Tony Haygarth. episode 2.: Toby. Ray and Louise Knight tragically loose their unborn son, when they move house, Louise fells she is pregnant but nobody takes her seriously and has a phantom birth. As they recover Louise feels she is being haunted by the spirit of her unborn son Toby. Stars: Martin Clunes, Samantha Bond, Rosemary Leach. Episode 3.: Mirror Man. A social worker takes over a case of a troubled man as her predecessor died, as the worker delves more into the case little does she realise what danger she is in. Stars: John Simm, Phyllis Logan Paul Reynolds, Mathew Scurfield. Episde 4.: The Man Who Didn't Believe In Ghosts. Richard, a de-bunker of the paranormal moves to Windwhistle hall with his wife and son, soon his family believe the house to be haunted and Richard sets out it's not real. Stars: Peter Egan, Miles Anderson, Helen Caldwell, Tobias saunders. Episode 5.: Number Six. Jack, a detective investigating the murders of five children believes he is closing in on the killer and tries to stop someone from being number six before the next full moon. I remeber watching these when they first aired and was disappointed when only five episodes were made and there was only one season, this was when T.V. was interesting and worth watching. One or two of the stories I wasn't keen on but the twists at the end did come to a surprise with the build up, certainly worth a re-watch. chiller-tv-series-00.jpg

Armchair Thriller: Rachel in Danger Part 1: Ten year old Rachel is sent to stay with her estranged father in London, before she arrives he is killed by a terrorist and uses the dead man's identity. Part 2: Rachel is introduced to her new Step-mother in reality another member of the terrorist group and they are invited to a garden party by the Royal family. Part 3: Rachel has discovered a body in the airing cupboard and knows something is wrong and tries to get word to the police, the terrorist tells her a story that the man in the cupboard was sent to kill him for being involved in politics. Part 4: A member of the terrorist group has cold feet about killing a child and wants to guarantee her safety. Will the police act in time and will the terrorists carry out their plot? This was a decent suspenseful story, Della Low plays the Ten year old pretty well to the point we are cheering for her for sticking around and being a smart kid, Stephen Greif plays Juan the terrorist decently and thinking of things on the spot to make sure their goal is full filled by any means
