I agree with everything you say there Phil. I love Franco but most of Roliins films have bored me to death. |

The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh and more
These have been mentioned by other astute folk already, but the ones I would most like to see get the Shameless treatment are 1. The Perfume of the Lady in Black 2. Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key 3. The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh is a particularly beautiful film imo – one of the all-time great giallos and a classic of Italian cinema in general. I downloaded a torrent off Mininova which I've damn near worn out and, as a penniless student, really can't afford the used US import selling for £52 on Amazon at the moment (Your Vice Is a Locked Room, which I've never seen but looks ace, is £82 second-hand on Amazon). I – and no doubt countless others – would have a nerdgasm if any of these three were to get the Shameless treatment in the near future! |

The Italian release of The Perfume of the Lady in Black put out by Raro is pretty easy to get hold of and Mya Communications are going to reissue the other two at some point.

I'd nominate So Sweet, So Dead, which is a really good and famous giallo that for some reason is still awaiting a dvd release anywhere in the world. Also, talking of Sylva Koscina films, Crimes Of The Black Cat, another comparitively well known title, which has only had one, bad worldwide dvd release. However, of all the gialli I've seen, the one most deserving of rediscovery is an obscure film called Deadly Inheritance, a relatively early (late 60s) rural thriller starring Femi Benussi (absolutely radiant here), which has certain similarities to the later Don't Torture A Duckling (namely its central theme of small town greed, repression and in-breeding). I see that Code Red are finally doing a definitive release of Messiah Of Evil, one of the great American horrors, which has languished in public domain hell for too long. I hope that someone (and why not Shameless?) does the same for another personal favourite of mine, Silent Night, Bloody Night. Rarely has insanity been depicted in such a disturbing and believable way. And The Pyx, a great and brilliantly acted Canadian tale of black magic, starring Christopher Plummer and Karen Black, which has similarly suffered at the hands of el cheapo dvd labels. |

So Sweet,So Dead and Crimes of the Black Cat could certainly use a nice dvd-release. As for Deadly Inheritance,I found it rather boring to be honest...just my opinion. |

MYA Communication are releasing Strange Vice in January as Blade of the Ripper or some such nonsense - It's original US title.

Can't see it being too dodgy mate, they are run by former No Shamers, so they should at least be able to port over that release. I think they've changed it so that it appears to be another movie, plus it was more widely known over there under that title prior to the original No Shame release.
